Keeping the art alive in Harajuku

Art display of frogs in LaForet Department store and museum in Harajuku. LaForet had a bunch of unique designs that clearly shows the fashion of Harajuku.

Design Festa is a cute little art exhibition space in Harajuku where artists all over Japan come to display their work. It encourages a lot of street artists, urban artists, and photographers to express themselves and their art. Since it's a commission-free gallery space, it means that all profits go to the artist.

Once you go into the gallery, you are overwhelmed by artwork. There are murals on almost every surface of the gallery space. Walls, toilets, even on vending machines and trashcans. There is also a cute little cafe in the center of the gallery that sells delicious foods.

Most artists sold postcards of their artwork.

A photo exhibition space. Simple but very intriguing. Post photographs were just captures of Japan and the artists' everyday lives. If you want to visit Design Festa, visit this website for more information and directions!
